Gast Waltzing Largo in Harbin
The Luxembourg Jazz group Largo, led by trumpeter Gast Waltzing, did a residence at the Conservatory of the Harbin Normal University. Largo performed concerts on 7, 8 and 9 April, the latter in cooperation with the Conservatory’s orchestra. Musicians from both sides played a number of pieces together and Gast Waltzing is the first Luxembourg conductor to conduct a Chinese orchestra. The main hall of the conservatory was packed with enthusiastic students who gave standing ovations to these performances. Students of the Conservatory were able to participate in the master classes given by the four Luxembourg musicians. This visit is the beginning of a longer cooperation.
