Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi in Luxembourg

During his visit Yang stressed the importance of Luxembourg as a key partner of China within the European Union. Over the years the two countries have insisted on mutual respect, mutual trust and equality.

To the satisfaction of both sides, economic and trade relations between China and Luxembourg have developed rapidly, and China will continue to tap trade potential.

Yang also said that, China is ready to strengthen high-level exchanges with Luxembourg, broaden and deepen cooperation in the fields of finance, air cargo, steel and others, and expand mutual investment to achieve win-win cooperation

In addition, China wants to support the two countries to strengthen people-to-people and tourism exchanges and cooperation, and hopes that both sides will maintain good communication and coordination on major international affairs.

The PM Xavier Bettel said Luxembourg and China are true partners and that “Luxembourg is honored to become the first European country that has applied to join the Asian Investment Infrastructure Bank.”

“Luxembourg is ready to further strengthen cooperation with China in economy and trade, finance, transportation and other areas, and continue to deepen the friendly and cooperative relations with China based on mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit,” Bettel added.

At the Chamber, Yang met with a parliamentarians. The president of the Chamber Bartolomeo said that the two countries have maintained many consensuses and common interests in different fields, and that China is a major participant and key partner who plays a significant role in the settlement of issues related to world peace, development and others.
