Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance visits China
Between January 14 and 17, Luxembourg's Minister of Finance, Luc Frieden led a promotion and prospection mission of the Luxembourg financial place to China. Organised by the Luxembourg promotion agency Luxembourg for Finance, this trade mission visited Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Beijing.
The Minister was accompanied by a large delegation of representatives of the Luxembourg financial sector. In Hong Kong, Minister Frieden participated in the policy dialogue of the Asian Financial Forum. In Beijing, Minister Frieden had fruitful talks with his Chinese counterpart, Finance Minister Xie Xuren. He also met with key officials of the supervisory authorities of the financial sector as well as from the Chinese People's Bank of China, and discussed, among other issues, opportunities surrounding the internationalisation of the Renminbi. In Beijing, Minister Frieden opened a seminar for Chinese investors which aimed at promoting Luxembourg as a global financial center and an ideal platform to increase the international reach of Chinese asset managers.
